A sister is one who reaches for your hand and touches your heart.
The reason I love Alpha Phi so much is because of the truly incredible relationships formed over our collegiate years. I never thought I would fall in love with a group of women who support me, defend me, challenge me, and overall better who I am as a person. I never thought I would have over 60 women in my life who know me better than myself, but throughout my time in Chi chapter, I have gained all of those things and so much more. I have found a home in Alpha Phi.
Sisterhood in Chi chapter is cultivated in many ways. We bond over swapping fishbowl stories, indulging in the kitchen, lifting each other up, and making each other laugh. Furthermore, we get together monthly for sisterhood events, share holidays together, and go on our annual sisterhood retreat, where we get out of town and head up to the mountains to get to know each other on a much deeper level. As Vice President of Membership Education and Programming, I get the pleasure of planning these fun events for our chapter to further our value of sisterhood. However, our sisterhood is more than just chapter events and house hang outs. It is an enduring friendship built upon late nights studying, binge-watching all our favorite shows, early morning coffee runs and endless laughter. It is knowing there will always be a sister to pick you up from campus during those cold Montana blizzards and having a cozy home to return to. It is having a group of girls to pump you up before a big presentation or maybe even a date and lending you a shoulder to cry on when you need it most. It is knowing that no matter what, your sisters will always be right by your side.
It may be hard to believe that all these little moments we share amount to an irreplaceable bond, but through the good times and the bad, we have each other for life- and that is a true testament to our sisterhood.
